TOPIC: THAT GREAT DAY

TEXT: Joel 2:1; Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my Holy Mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand

Great is the Lord and excellent is His name in all the earth. We thank God for the privilege to study His Word again and to learn. I pray that the Almighty will reveal the Word to us by His Spirit, and strengthen us to meditate on and obey the Word. 

We are here reminding ourselves of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. I hope we all believe that Christ is coming back, this was even told the disciples on the day of ascension by the angels of God, that the same Jesus will come back in the same manner as they have seen Him go to Heaven. There are more and more scriptures that the Lord is coming again. Even Jesus said so Himself in John 14:3; And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself ; that where I am, there ye may be also.

From our topic, this day is regarded as THAT GREAT DAY, the day of the Lord, the second coming of Christ. From our text and the fulfilment of the prophecies in the Word of God about the last days; this day is nigh at hand, very close and no one knows the day except the Father.

This is not to scare you, but to remind you that one day, definitely and most definitely; this world will come to an end, but when it does where do you want to be?. I know everyone wants to make it to Heaven and no one should as well miss Heaven. 

So how then are we expected to live as we look forward to this Great Day; II Peter 3:11 says " Seeing then that all things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,." This should be in our consciousness, holy conversation and godliness. Yes, we will all give account of the life we lived on earth, both young and great, all men. If you have made that decision to live for Jesus, then live for Him wholly, not partially, having always in your mind that His return is nearer each day. We long to see our Savior and we will live as we ought so that when He comes, we'll not be ashamed.

Also, we ought to tell others about Jesus Christ. Save a soul from hell, be used of God. Oh your crown and stars on it awaits you in Heaven as you take upon you the business of winning souls for Christ. Let the Holy Spirit help you in living your life perfectly for Christ, for His Glory and also as you tell others  about Jesus. 

Prayer Point: O Lord, prepare me for your coming as I live for you, sanctify my spirit, soul and body, preserve me and help me to make it well to the end, in Jesus name, Amen.
